Webinos (Secure Web Operating System Application Delivery Environment)

Overview

Objective: webinos aims to define and deliver an open-source platform and software components for the Future Internet in the form of web runtime extensions, to enable web applications and services to be used and shared consistently and securely over a broad spectrum of converged and connected devices, including mobile, PC, home media (TV) and in-car units.

Partners: beside the Politecnico di Torino, several other partners are taking part to this project, including Fraunhofer (coordinator), BMW, Deutsche Telekom, DOCOMO, Samsung, Sony Ericcson, Telefonica, Telecom Italia, TNO For a full list, please refer to the project web site.

Funding: the project is funded by the European Commission under FP7 with 9.78 M€ under contract FP7-ICT-2009-5 257103.

Duration: 36 months (september 2010 - august 2013)

The role of TORSEC

TORSEC brings to Webinos its knowledge in several areas of security and is involved in the analysis of users' and developers' requirements, definition of security specifications (e.g. security policy, user and device authentication), design of the overall architecture and verification of proof-of-concept implementation.
