Overview

Objective: Stork is a European ICT policy-support project to define and pilot a common infrastructure to enable the cross-border use of national electronic identities (eID).

Partners: besides the Politecnico di Torino (that is representing Italy together with DigitPA and Regione Lombardia), several other partners are taking part to this project as representatives for 18 countries (Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom). Funding: the project is funded by the European Commission under the ICT PSP program with 20 M€ under contract INFSO-ICT-PSP-224993.

Duration: 43 months (June 2008 - December 2011)

The role of TORSEC

TORSEC brings to Stork its expertise in PKI, smart-cards, digital certificates, and network security. More specifically, TORSEC has contributed to the design of the security architecture (with special reference to public-key certificate validation), is operating the Italian gateway for Stork and partecipating to the Student Mobility pilot.
